Innovation:

eGlobalTech has developed a strong reputation as an "Industry Leader" in the federal community through a proven track record of mission-focused innovation. Examples of the firm's innovative approach to improving Government services and increasing performance levels include:

  • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA): Developed a practical, business oriented approach to SOA that includes a step-by-step guide to identifying and deploying reusable services. eGlobalTech successfully implemented this approach at the Department of Education, resulting in the identification of fourteen (14) common services and successfully establishing the Department’s Enterprise Data Warehouse. This SOA-based investment resulted significant cost-savings and the launch of the Department’s first shared service, encompassing more than 20 end-user organizations.

eGlobalTech has also been part of the team that worked on developing the Practical Guide to SOA to be used across the Federal Government. This effort was championed by the Industry Advisory Council and developed for use by OMB.

  • Enterprise Architecture (EA) Development: eGlobalTech developed an intuitive template that captures EA driven information at each level: Business, Service Component, Data, Technology, and Performance. This template (1) captures all required information in a standardized format (2) established a direct relationship, or line-of-sight, between each architecture level (3) allows for analysis in order to define Department-wide opportunities for consolidation, service reuse, and/or modernization. This template was cited as a best practice by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on www.core.gov and has been used to develop two of the Top 4 Federal Enterprise Architectures (the Department of Labor and the Department of Education).

  • IAC EA SIG - Health-care Information Sharing: Ms. Sonya Jain is a member of the “Leadership Team” of the Enterprise Architecture Shared Interest Group( EA SIG) within the Industry Advisory Council. As part of this Group, she has led several efforts including the Collaboration Workgroup, and more recently, the Health-care Information Sharing Workgroup. The recommendations made by the Health-care Information Sharing Workgroup have been used by HHS’s leadership to develop their strategic direction for enabling information sharing across the health-care sector. The workgroup also identified challenges and successes of information sharing and highlighted both best practices as well as bottlenecks.

  • AFFIRM Sponsorship - eGlobalTech sponsors the Association for Federal Information Resource Management (AFFIRM) which is a non-profit, volunteer, educational organization whose goal is to improve the management of information within the Federal Government. eGloablTech interests in this organization go beyond the Federal arena, to the student community, as AFFIRM has a program that provides scholarships to undergraduate students studying IT or a related field in 6 Universities.

  • eGlobalTech Teaches at the USDA Grad School
USDA Grad School eGlobalTech teaches an in-depth 3-day course on "Implementing Enterprise Architecture" as part of the USDA Graduate School's Enterprise Architecture Certification Program. The course covers all of the key components of establishing and maintaining a successful Federal Enterprise Architecture Program - including effective EA Development and Deployment, Governance, Integration with Capital Planning and Investment Control (CPIC), IT Security, and addressing OMB Assessment Criteria. This popular course includes Federal Agency best practices, case studies and interactive presentations.

Creating a Line of Sight in Enterprise Architecture
By Branko Primetica, eGlobalTech Vice President and Sonya Jain, eGlobalTech President

Abstract
Performance is a key driver of Enterprise Architecture efforts within organizations of varying sizes. In order to use this driver, it is important to determine quantifiable, outcome-based metrics that can be used to measure and track progress towards a “target” vision. These metrics must be aligned throughout all layers of the EA, thereby creating a “Line of Sight” from business goals to related services and enabling technology. Performance measurements must be aligned to strategic goals and mission needs, and must work seamlessly to drive technical solutions – from inputs to outputs to outcomes.
